FOOD

Food is one of the most basic requirements for any person and the purpose of the Changing Our World Foundation is to positively affect the lives of everyday people in Obalende and particularly the poor and needy.  It is difficult to discuss issues such as the benefits of education, sanitation and economic activities with someone who has an empty stomach.  The Food Group therefore identifies those who have the greatest need and aims to feed them on a regular basis.  This frequency of this activity was initially once a month, then several times a month as funds allow.  The intention is to develop a funding mechanism which will make this food source continuous and eventually lead to the establishment of a soup kitchen within Obalende by the end of 2008.

Achievements to Date

• We feed 500 to 800 people every time we distribute cooked
• food which has occurred at least once a month from July 2006. 
• We try to distribute 80 packs of raw food to widows, single mothers, and the elderly at least once a month.
• The food committee has been able to ensure that the food items are purchased and cooked and packed for distribution.
• The Logistics committee has been able to provide necessary transportation, chairs, tables & canopies and venue management.
• The Finance committee kept record of contributions received from members and non members and ensured that enough funds were generated for each feeding.
• The relationship and fact finding committee has met with several community leaders to get information for the overall planning of the team’s activities and these are ongoing relationships which facilitate the Foundation’s efforts.
