ENVIRONMENT

The environment group have come up with a water project to construct 6 water points in strategic locations in Obalende Community; in conjunction with carrying out a public enlightenment campaign to promote safe hygiene and sanitation practices. It is believed that this intervention will provide clean and easy access to water which will enable the Community to lead a cleaner and more hygienic life by the end of the project period.

Objectives

The following specific objectives will be realized at the end of the project period.

  1. To construct 6 water points in Obalende Community. The water points will be supported by a borehole, over head tank, generator, surface pump machine. Each water point will have a small tiling area with about 4 water taps installed on it. A pump assistant will be put at each water facility to provide water to the community free of charge. Water will be sold to the water vendors at a fee. Money generated from the sales will go towards maintenance costs. The assistant will be provided with a table and umbrella attached to it and a chair.
  1. To promote safe hygiene practices through the printing and distribution of simple life saving hygiene and sanitation messages.
  1. To  implement  an environmental sanitation project (including waste management) to achieve cleaner, more hygienic streets in the community. Efforts will be made to produce public enlightenment materials to encourage people to keep their environment clean.
